While hoverboards are growing in popularity, they are illegal to ride along streets in New York City, but some politicians are working to change that.
City Councilman Andy King is proposing legislation that would permit the use of hoverboards on sidewalks and in parks and playgrounds. For safety, the legislation would also make the use of the devices in the street or bike lanes against the law. A number of Hoverboard users support this proposed legislation and are in opposition to any legislation that bans the popular devices entirely.
