East Bronx History Forum Presentation Weds. Dec 16th 7:30pm

The Huntington Free Library and Reading Room is pleased to announce The East Bronx History Forum will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, December 16th, 2015 at 7:30pm.

The East Bronx History Forum meets to discuss Bronx History and held its first meeting on June 16, 2005.   This will be the Forum’s 106th meeting and we are pleased to have Kaycie Santiago as our featured presenter.   The topic for the power point presentation is “The Past and Present of Preston High Schoolbased on Ms. Santiago’s independent research.
Bronx resident Kaycie Santiago is no ordinary researcher and historian. She recently was recently awarded a Certificate of Honorable Mention from the New York State Archives for her submission of her paper on the Collis P. Huntington homestead, that later became Preston High School in the Bronx.   Ms. Santiago’s hard work and passion easily comes through when her 90 page paper, bibliography and images are examined.  There is an additional special reason why her work is of the highest standards; because she attends Preston High School.  Ms. Santiago is honor student, now in her junior year at Preston.  It should also be noted that Kaycie was the class Valedictorian from St. Raymond Elementary School in 2013.
Ms. Santiago’s enthusiasm to promote Bronx and Preston High School history does not end with her paper and presentation.  Ms. Santiago, along with other Preston High School students under the guidance of Dr. Nikolaus Unger are producing a film documentary based on Kaycie’s paper.  If you are a parent or student, this is the time to come out, join, support and enjoy the work of our local student Kaycie Santiago.
All meetings are free and open to the public at The Huntington Free Library and Reading Room, located next to Apple Bank at 9 Westchester Square Bronx, NY.  Parking is free after 7 pm.
