New York, NY — Justice Manuel Mendez’s Friday ruling stopping DraftKings and FanDuel from doing business in the state was appealed to the Appellate Court’s First Department, which issued an emergency stay allowing the daily fantasy sports sites to keep operating through at least next month.
The ruling by Justice Mendez upholds New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s aggressive interpretation of the New York State constitution’s ban on gambling and games of chance.
In November, players in fantasy sports leagues held a protest outside AG Schneiderman’s Manhattan offices.
