Bronx DA: Indictment for New Year’s Day Slashing

Kari Bazemore Also Facing Charges in Manhattan for Similar Incidents

 

(Bronx, NY – January 27, 2016) – Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announces a Grand Jury has indicted 40-year-old KARI BAZEMORE for the New Year’s Day slashing of a woman in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.

BAZEMORE was arraigned today before Supreme Court Justice George Villegas, who entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf, on the following charges:

 

                Assault in the 1st Degree (2 counts, (Class B Felony)

Assault in the 2nd Degree (2 counts, Class D Felony)

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony)

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

 

If convicted on all counts, BAZEMORE could spend up to 25 years behind bars.

BAZEMORE also faces charges for two similar incidents in Manhattan that occurred within days of this alleged attack.

According to the charges, KARI BAZEMORE walked up to Nicole Pagliaro as she was walking on Lincoln Avenue near East 134th Street on the evening of New Year’s Day.  He is accused of slashing the young woman across her face with a sharp object, an injury that required multiple stitches to close.

BAZEMORE has been remanded to jail; his case has been adjourned until March/16 in Part SCA.

The case against KARI BAZEMORE is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Burim Namani of the Bronx DA Trial Bureau 30/40.

An indictment is merely an accusation.  All defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
