by Anthony C Rivieccio, MBA, PFA

We’re coming to the deadline! No more procrastination. Do you have all your receipts? Are you ready to file?

Relax, you have at least 3 extra days!

This year’s tax deadline has been extended to April 18, giving tax filers an extra weekend to get it together.

If it looks like you still cannot file on time, you can get an automatic six-month extension of time to filefile. On the Federal side, you will fill out Form 4868. On the State side, you would fill out Form IT-201,Resident Income Tax Return, or Form IT-203, Nonresident and Part-Year Resident Income Tax Return.

You can also get an automatic extension (generally five months) of time to file Form IT-204, Partnership Return, or Form IT-205,Fiduciary Income Tax Return.

You must request the extension of time to file on or before the due date of your return.

You can request these forms: by phone (18008291040) or by the internet.

The online option will provide you a confirmation that your extension request was received.
