Eugen Bleuler (1857)

Bleuler was a Swiss psychiatrist who in 1908introduced the term “schizophrenia.” Whilestudying schizophrenic patients, Bleulerconcluded that the disease was not one ofdementia, a condition involving organicdeterioration of the brain, but one consisting ofa state of mind in which contradictorytendencies exist together.
