Protest Planned Against Jerome Avenue Rezoning Plan – September 29th

A THOUSAND NEW YORKERS PLAN PROTEST TO SAY NO TO CITY’S JEROME AVENUE REZONING PLAN UNLESS CITY COMMITS TO COMMUNITY’S DEMANDS

ADVOCATES BELIEVE CITY HEARING MARKS OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY CONCERNS AND PUSH FOR LABOR STANDARDS, DEEPER AFFORDABILITY AND ANTI-DISPLACEMENT POLICIES

Bronx, New York—A thousand New Yorkers – representing labor groups and Bronx community groups – will march to demand that this rezoning benefit the community through safe, career-track jobs, local hire, deep affordability and anti-displacement protections. Otherwise, as a community, they will say NO to a Jerome Avenue rezoning.

GNY LECET and the Bronx Coalition for a Community Vision has previously voiced their concerns for the City’s Rezoning plan after a Scope and Environmental Assessment of the proposed Rezoning failed to address the needs of the community in relation to labor and affordability.

Without addressing these concerns, the City is turning its back on the Bronx community and the workforce responsible for building the Bronx.
