The woman remains in critical condition at Lincoln Hospital. One firefighter was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Fire officials reported that the fire began in the elderly woman’s apartment and that 140 members battled the wind-fueled blaze for an hour and forty-minutes before the blaze was declared under control.
Officials also say that four apartments were destroyed in the blaze and the American Red Cross of Greater New York reported that they were assisting 16 families who were displaced by the blaze or the subsequent water damage to their apartments.
