Chairman Crowley on Israeli Independence Day

(Washington, DC) – House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley issued the following statement on Israeli Independence Day:

“Today, the people of Israel are celebrating Yom Ha’atzmaut, 69 years after the founding of the State of Israel in 1948. In the decades since, Israel has developed into a modern, democratic, and technologically advanced country that has not only survived but thrived. And, like few other countries, Israel has prospered in spite of being repeatedly attacked and subjected to serious threats. As someone who has been able to visit Israel’s legislative body, the Knesset, I am constantly reminded of our commitment to democracy. I’m proud to be a supporter of the strong United States-Israel relationship, and know that our shared values will continue to pave the way for enduring ties.”
