NYCHA-4The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) has responded in regard to a level 2 sex offender who recently moved into the Throgs Neck Houses.

In a prepared statement, Jasmine Blake, the deputy press secretary at NYCHA, stated, “There is nothing more important that the safety and security of our residents.”

Blake continued, “No lifetime registered sex offender is permitted to live in a NYCHA development. NYCHA proactively and regularly works with out partners in law enforcement and the state registry to ensure offenders are not living on NYCHA grounds.”

Blake also noted that an investigation into the case involving Herbert Negron, 56, a registered sex offender now residing at 2815 Schley Avenue, “had already opened by the time the reporter contacted NYCHA.”

Blake added, “NYCHA reviews all addresses on the state registry at the beginning of each month. NYCHA is also informed by the NYPD of arrests involving sex offences where the offender gives a NYCHA address. In all cases, NYCHA immediately opens an investigation and takes appropriate action.

According to public records, Negron spent 3 years in state prison for a June, 2000 encounter with a 14 year-old child.
