Senator Klein Co-Sponsors Second Annual Senior Prom

State Senator Jeff Klein partnered with The Hebrew Home at Riverdale and Kingsbridge Riverdale Van Cortlandt Development Corporation to co-sponsor the nursing home’s second annual Senior Prom event. Hundreds of seniors packed into the Hebrew Home on May 30 to enjoy an afternoon of food, live music and, of course, dancing. The gathering kicked off with complimentary hor d’oeuvres and an assortment of beverages. The attendees were also quick to gather free corsages, compliments of KRVC. Guests were given the opportunity to sign up to be the prom king and queen, by entering their names into a basket and Senator Klein chose the lucky duo: King Alfred Greene and Queen Betty Joblove. Throughout the event, the prom king and queen were joined on the dance floor by their fellow prom-goers, dancing to the DJ while a group of music students from nearby Salanter Akiba Riverdale High School performed for the participants as well. Now in its second year, this unique tradition was born out of a conversation between Senator Klein and President and CEO of Riverspring Health, Daniel Reingold and it continues to be a favorite event throughout The Bronx community.
