Wednesday afternoon in the Bronx the American Dairy Association visited the Melrose Playground with their “Got Milk” campaign. The youngsters participating in the event enjoyed the home run derby and meeting former NY Yankees slugger Cecil Fielder and world champion.

Borough coordinator Kevin Matos was the designated pitcher for the event and specialist Nana Amoakohene took ground balls in the infield with the youngsters.

Kenneth Paredes, 10 years old and 15-year old Rafael Martinez both tied for first place with eight home runs and were awarded with exclusive field passes to attend batting practice on the field at a future Yankees home game.

“I’m happy that I was tied with a 15-year old,’ Kenneth said. “It showed that I’m improving as an athlete and I believe in myself more.”

All of the youngsters involved gave their feedback about the event being positive and rewarding.
