Chairman Crowley Introduces ‘A Better Deal for Queens and the Bronx’
(Queens, N.Y.) – Today, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-NY) introduced A Better Deal for Queens and the Bronx – a collection of concrete legislative and advocacy efforts to improve life for New Yorkers.
The Better Deal for Queens and the Bronx includes real and tangible improvements to make it easier for students to learn in modern classrooms and for parents to make the best choices for their families about child care and their careers. It will help commuters get to work on time and grow in their jobs. It also includes legislative and advocacy efforts to create a more just criminal justice system, improve New York City’s infrastructure, and help seniors retire with dignity.
“It’s always been my belief that Americans do best when their communities are secure, strong, and filled with opportunity. When families feel as if they have the chance to get ahead through hard work and a level playing field,” said Congressman Crowley. “Democrats are fighting for true progress for the men and women who built this country and contribute most to our economy and communities – and that’s what my Better Deal for Queens and the Bronx will help accomplish.”

The plan details actions in ten categories that will improve the long-term and day-to-day lives of Queens and Bronx residents. These categories include jobs, education, housing, homelessness, immigration, the justice system, seniors, veterans, infrastructure, and transportation.
