NYPD COMMISSIONER VISITS PELHAM BAY

A packed crowd jammed the cafeteria of St. Theresa’s Church, at 2855 St. Theresa Avenue in Pelham Bay for the monthly 45th Precinct Community Council meeting held on Thursday, February 1. Guest speaker was NYPD Commissioner James O’Neil, who was joined by top brass of the department, who fielded questions from the audience. O’Neill also addressed the opioid epidemic, specifically in the Throgs Neck, Country Club, Pelham Bay and City Island neighborhoods where twenty overdoses were reported in 2017. O’Neil, who helped put together and now implement the Neighborhood Policing imitative that would put more officers onto the street’s, stated that the Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCO’s) would be on the beat by July.
