Comedy Central Veterans Pete Lee and Roy Wood, Jr. Bring the Laughs to Empire City Casino This May

(Yonkers, NY) — May merriment is front and center at Empire City Casino, Manhattan’s closest casino, with a pair of laugh-fests headlined by Comedy Central veterans Pete Lee on May 16th and Roy Wood, Jr. on May 30th as the casino’s Comedy Nights roar into springtime.

Pete Lee brings more than a decade of stand-up wit to Empire City this May. Lee’s comedic résumé includes appearances on FUSE TV’s Video on Trial, the NFL Network’s Top 10’s, VH1’s Best Week Ever, TruTV’s Greatest Ever, and NBC’s Last Comic Standing, on which he made his national television debut. He not only had his own half-hour special on Comedy Central but also hosted his own web show on MSN.com – New York Minute:30. Check out his recent performance from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where he jokes about what it feels like to not be from New York, growing up a sensitive feminist and struggling with motion sensor bathrooms, here and get ready to laugh as he makes his way to Empire City Casino on May 16th. Lee will be joined by New York City’s own Jared Freid, who has appeared on TruTV’s NFL Full Contact, MTV’s Failosophy, and AXS TV’s Gotham Comedy Live and co-hosts the U Up podcast. The host of the night is Danny Palmer, a regular at a plethora of New York City venues including Comic Strip Live, The Stand, Broadway Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, and Greenwich Village Comedy Club.

As a correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Roy Wood, Jr. knows a thing or two about thought-provoking comedy. Not only has he performed across the late-night show circuit, with appearances on Conan, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Wood starred in Sullivan & Son on TBS for three seasons and was recently named the new host for season four of Comedy Central’s storytelling series, This is Not Happening. In 2017, Wood premiered his first one-hour stand-up special, Father Figure, on Comedy Central as well as a live album of the same name. On May 30th, he’ll be joined by Queens-native Ian Lara, who stumbled upon comedy after college when a really successful lawyer advised he should skip going to law school. Abby Rosenquist, who is a regular at The Stand comedy club in NYC and recently won the title of Philly’s Phunniest Person for 2017, is the host of the night.

Doors for both comedy shows open at 7:00 p.m., with performances beginning at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door the night of each show. Admission is $5 for Empire Club members and $25 for non-members; non-members can stop by any promotions booth prior to the show and join the Empire Club for free. Elite Club and President’s Club members gain free admission. All attendees receive a complimentary drink ticket.
