TM Bronx Hanks Yanks Win Twinbill

TM Hanks Yanks 16 & U team a branch of the Baseball Training Institute in the Bronx swept a doubleheader 5-3 and 7-2 Tuesday evening at the Randalls Island fields defeating Over Caged Warriors Red.

Hanks Yanks co-founded by Yankees Co-owner Hank Steinbrenner and Ray Negron, a Yankees consultant and columnist for the Bronx Chronicle, enables youngsters in the tri-state area to play organized baseball games that assists baseball leagues.

TM, now known as the Baseball Training Institute and located in the Westchester Square vicinity, in their 11th year, has been instrumental in developing skills and aspirations for youngsters in pursuing their goals with the game of baseball. In their initial season with Hanks Yanks last year, the TM Hanks Yanks 16&U won a championship in their division.

In the 5-3  win, Hanks Yanks built a five run lead in the third inning. Pitching out of jams they were able to head off a late inning charge by the Cage Warriors. Ivan Muniz, Jaden Torrado, Frank Ortiz, and Jonathan Robeldo each had a run batted in.

Justin Chamopro pitched four innings and gave up three runs, four hits, and struck out six and got on base twice with two hits. Jose Silva and and Jacob Ortiz came out of the pen. Silva recorded the last two outs for the save and win.

Nick Bugallo opened the evening with six innings pitched allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts for the first game win.
