Public Art Exhibition at Starlight Park

On June 30 & July 1, 2018, in Starlight Park (177th St & Devoe Ave.), June 30 to  July 1, 2018, in Starlight Park (177th St & Devoe Ave.), The Bronx River Arts Center will launch the yearlong exhibition River Rising/Sube el Rio: An Exposition of Science, Art and Technology.

The exhibit, which will be on view June 30, 2018 through June 30, 2019, consists of eight commissioned sculptures by 15 artists informed by the 1918 Bronx International Exposition of Science, Arts and Industries, which took place on this same site 100 years ago.

River Rising is the first major public art exhibition to be located in Starlight Park. The newly renovated park is bound by the Bronx River and Sheridan Expressway.

This interactive outdoor exhibition, which is currently being installed, is ideal for inclusion in “weekend activity” or “hidden gems” media articles or social media posts. Several artists reside in the Bronx and all the artists and curators are available for interviews. The opening weekend, 6/30 & 7/1/2018, will include fun activities for the entire family – a special performance by Bronx Latin Jazz legend Papo Vazquez & Mighty Pirates Troubadours, parades, dancing, food, and more.
