The couple wed at the Howe Caverns in Upstate NY where it was a reported cool 55 degrees in the cave. Their rescue cats were also in attendance.

In an email to friends and media, Sliwa wrote, “Nancy and I met 3 years ago. I was patrolling it with the Guardian Angels and she was rescuing cats who needed to be fixed.” He said that Regula joined the Guardian Angels and started the Guardian Angels Animal Protection Division which manages cat colonies all over the city.

Sliwa credited her with nursing him through the last 2 years as he suffered from Chronic Crone’s disease.

Regula, a practicing attorney for 11 years, is the Reform party candidate for NY State Attorney General this fall and is running on an animal protection platform. Sliwa is also state party chairman of the Reform Party of New York State.
