Local Bronx Players Head To National Team Tryouts

Three student athletes from the Baseball Training Institute in the Bronx have arrived in Cary North Carolina for tryouts with the USA National Team at the USA National Training Complex.

Jose Silva, Matthew Mercado, and Jaden Torrado trained the past month in preparation for this opportunity with coach Tony Melendez of the Baseball Training Institute.

North Carolina We Have Arrived!

Melendez said, “Their hard work, dedication and persistence have paved the way for them to represent themselves, families and borough in what is sure to bean experience of a lifetime for these young student-athletes from the Bronx.

Silva, Mercado and Torrado recently returned from Tampa Florida where they and teammates of the Hanks Yanks BTI team won a tournament aged 16 & Under.
