NEW YORK — Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will visit the Bronx on Monday, November 19, to meet with leaders in business, community development, education, and government.

The day will begin in Hunts Point, with a tour of a Baldor Specialty Foods facility and a meeting with leadership from Baldor and the New York City Economic Development Corporation. From there, President Williams will visit Per Scholas, a training program focused on preparing unemployed or underemployed adults for technology careers.

On the Grand Concourse, President Williams will sit down with Nick Lugo, President of the NYC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, for a moderated discussion at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. He will then participate in a lunch meeting with Ruben Diaz Jr., Bronx Borough President, and Marlene Cintron, Director of the Bronx Overall Development Corporation.

From there, he will head to Norwood to meet with leadership from Montefiore Hospital on providing small business support, neighborhood development, and quality housing to communities surrounding Montefiore’s facilities throughout the Bronx.

President Williams will conclude the day by meeting with the leadership of HERE to HERE, a Bronx-based nonprofit that unites employers, educators, and community-based organizations to connect young people to family-sustaining careers. While there, he will hear directly from students who are participating in the program.

This trip serves to inform President Williams on regional issues and is part of the New York Fed’s ongoing efforts to assess economic conditions in the Federal Reserve’s Second District.
