Let’s Talk Turkey: Free birds, Celebrity hugs and Goodies at Council Member Andy King annual Turkey Giveaway
BRONX — New York City Council Member Andy King, Rapper Dave East and representatives from community and faith-based organizations distributed turkeys to the public for the holiday season.
“It’s an honor to be able to give and gift the community during the holiday season,” said King, as he commended Rapper Dave East and the various organizations physically on site for their donations Thanksgiving Day. “Success is all about being a part of your neighborhood, it’s not the mighty dollar.”
The Thanksgiving giveaway took place at Beulah Church of God, Bronx. Scores of people stood on line to receive hoodies and backpacks donated by East and turkeys donated by the Governor’s office, MetroPlus, Workmen’s Circle and Fresh Direct. Members of the Bronx Youth Empowerment Program assisted in the distribution.
Council Member King’s overall message was clear: “Take this feeling of love and joy and move it to the next 365 days of the year. It’ll make our communities so much stronger.”
