Lady Rams Earn Bye In Tournament

VCU and Fordham are the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference women’s basketball regular season champions, finishing with a 13-3 league record. VCU, by virtue of a two-team tiebreaker, will be the top seed for the 2019 Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Championship.

The 2019 A-10 Championship will be hosted by Duquesne University on March 8-10, 2019, with the first round being held on Tuesday, March 5 at campus sites. The first-round games as well the championship quarterfinals, will be available live on ESPN+, while the semifinal games will air on CBS Sports Network. The league’s title game will be televised on ESPNU.

VCU captured the No. 1 seed for the championship over Fordham via a head-to-head tiebreaker. VCU secured a bye and will play at 11:00 am in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 8 against the winner of No. 8 seed Saint Joseph’s (7-9) and No. 9 seed George Washington (7-9). The Hawks finished in a three-way tie for eighth with GW and Massachusetts and secured the No. 8 seed via a head-to-head tiebreaker.

Fordham (13-3), earned the second seed and also secured a bye. The Rams will face the winner of seventh-seeded George Mason (8-8) and No. 10 seed Massachusetts (7-9) at 4:30 pm Friday.

Duquesne (11-5) earned the third seed and will host No. 14 seed Rhode Island (3-13) in the first round Tuesday at 7:00 pm ET.

Dayton finished 10-6 in league play to take the fourth seed as a result of a head-to-head tiebreaker with Davidson. The Flyers will face No. 13 seed La Salle on Tuesday. Davidson, the No. 5 seed, will face No. 12 seed St. Bonaventure (5-11) in the first round.

Saint Louis earned the sixth seed and finished 9-7 in league play. The Billikens will play No. 11 Richmond (6-10) at home Tuesday.

La Salle and Rhode Island both completed the regular season with a record of 3-13. La Salle was tabbed the 13thseed as result of a head-to-head tiebreaker over Rhode Island, who was slotted 14th.
