The AOC: Mystery GOP Money, Depression and a Green Thumb

Big Money Republicans Target AOC
The New York Post’s Julia Marsh reports exclusively that deep-pocketed conservative group spent $32,000 on Monday against Rep. Ocasio-Cortez. Marsh reports that the “‘Stop AOC PAC,’ started in March by Virginia lawyer Dan Backer, plans to file its expenditure report Wednesday.” A draft obtained by The Post shows two $5,000 payments to Becki Donatelli, a Virginia-based digital fundraising strategist who consulted on John McCain’s two presidential runs. Backer told The Post that money will fund digital ads to convince NY-14 voters that she doesn’t represent their interests.

This latest report comes on the heels of Bronx GOP chairman Mike Rendino telling The Post of a mystery Republican donor who has pledged up to six-figures in an effort to unseat the Bronx/Queens Democrat. While not divulging the donor’s name Rendino claimed the individual is “worth over $200 million, plus [has] connections to raise money in Manhattan.”

Doubling Down on the Green New Deal

Dr. AOC Says Social Media Can Trigger Depression
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez recently told a Yahoo podcast audience that she’s quitting Facebook and has given up her personal account. Ocasio-Cortez acknowledges that she started her campaign on Facebook, but now says she believes social media poses a public health risk that can increase feelings of isolation and depression. Her legion of fans, admirers and followers shouldn’t worry, AOC is still torching critics on Twitter and posting Instagram videos about her latest musings and doings.

Calls for Binding Referendum on Puerto Rico’s Status
Last week, the Bronx/Queens Democrat of Puerto Rican heritage tweeted about her support for a binding federal referendum to decide Puerto Rico’s status: statehood or independence.

Picture of the Week
En route to her town hall on the Veterans Administration and healthcare services for ex-servicemen and women, AOC took timeout to smooch with Mr. 100PercentBronx Bob Press. Last year, Press moderated the Parkchester debate where then-congressman Joe Crowley tragically sent a surrogate in his place. According to Press, the April 18 evening town hall at PS 83 on Rhinelander Avenue in Morris Park drew about 150 attendees to the invitation-only event co-sponsored by National Nurses United.

A Green Thumb Deal
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly visited Som Records over the Weekend | PoPville (blog)
Sounds like AOC had a pretty awesome weekend – a visit to the great Som Records on 14th Street in Washington, DC, according to sources. And a little gardening, too.

Only kind of news the cult of AOC wants: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Needs Your Help Deciding What to Plant in Her Garden | House Beautiful
The HB article is a tongue-in-cheek hoot. I loved the “Are You Into Gardening” poll choices: Yes!, 56% vs. No, I’m Here for the AOC Content, 44%.

Here’s hoping readers come back to this page for the AOC content as well.
