Assemblywoman Fernandez Gives 49th Precinct SUV $20,000.00

Jacobi Hospital is where the 49th Precinct SUV (Stand Up to Violence) is located, and the hospital lobby was the perfect place for Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez to present the SUV team with a check for Twenty-Thousand dollars to continue the program. The SUV program was set up by the 49th Precinct Community Council Chair (and former police officer) Joe Thompson and others including Pastor J. Gooding.

Assemblywoman Fernandez speaks of the violence we hear about everyday, and of the new anti gun laws passed by the State legislature this year.

Since the inception of the SUV program in the 49th Precinct there has been a large decrease in violence in the precinct. The SUV team goes into the neighborhood to try to stop the violence before it starts. The motto of the SUV team is, “One Shot Fired is One Shot to Many.

Christopher Mastromano the CEO of Jacobi Hospital thanks Assemblywoman Fernandez for the allocation of state money to help keep the Jacobi Hospital SUV program going.
