The 6th Annual Carrion Movement — which is named for its founder Tanya Carrion — is an event for domestic violence survivors. The event was held Saturday at the United Federation of Teachers headquarters on Halsey Avenue. The co-hosts of the event were Ms. Zelideth Diaz-Hatch and Mr. Jose Rivera. Councilman Ruben Diaz Sr. introduced Democratic district Leader John Perez of the Parkchester, Castle Hill, and West Farms area. Councilman Diaz and District Leader Perez handed out citations to several of the attendees for their work in the area of domestic violence.

Assemblyman Marcos Crespo was also on hand to say that he is one hundred percent behind the Carrion Movement — as he was one of the sponsors of the event.

There were different dance presentations from the young dancers from Duran Dance Academy, a fashion show presented by Ms. Mia Roman, several other performers, information tables and selected vendors.
