2019 New Era Pinstripe Bowl Week to Kick Off

Michigan State and Wake Forest to Showcase Respective Universities to New York City The two participants in the 2019 New Era Pinstripe Bowl — Michigan State University and Wake Forest University — will hit the streets of New York City next week to take part in New Era Pinstripe Bowl Week activities.

Special events, promotions and community outreach will take place throughout the week to once again create an unforgettable experience for fans, families, students and staff. Scheduled visits to noteworthy New York City landmarks will include One World Observatory, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, the New York Stock ExchangeRadio City Music Hall and more. On Christmas morning,

Michigan State and Wake Forest will take in the unique sights of One World Observatory and visit the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Later that evening, each institution and their traveling parties will enjoy the acclaimed Radio City Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.

 On Thursday, December 26, representatives from the New Era Pinstripe Bowl and each institution will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Later that day, Wake Forest will visit the Pediatric Cancer Center at Memorial Sloan Kettering, while Michigan State conducts a football clinic with local Bronx youth at Yankee Stadium. 

Throughout the week, each school’s traveling party will take part in a variety of activities, including ice skating at Wollman Rink in Central Park, brunch at Tavern on the Green and welcome receptions at Yankee Stadium and Brasserie Ruhlmann. 

The week of events all lead up to a scheduled 3:20 p.m. (ET) kickoff at Yankee Stadium on Friday, December 27.

Michigan State will play in its 12th bowl game in 13 seasons under Head Coach Mark Dantonio. The 29th bowl appearance in program history (12-16) will be the Spartans’ first at the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, as they become the sixth different Big Ten team (in six years of the bowl’s partnership with the conference) to play in the game. Michigan State has collected wins in five of its last seven postseason trips (since 2011). Under sixth-year Head Coach Dave Clawson,

Wake Forest will make the 14th bowl appearance in school history and its first in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. The Demon Deacons will play in a school-record fourth consecutive bowl game and are the only ACC team (and one of nine in the country) to win bowl games in each of the past three postseasons, pushing their all-time bowl mark to 9-4. 

About the New Era Pinstripe BowlEstablished in 2010, the New Era Pinstripe Bowl has featured some of the most memorable moments in recent college football history. Known as “New York’s Bowl Game,” it is played at the world-renowned Yankee Stadium, which is home to the New York Yankees, New York City Football Club and many other sporting, cultural and business events.

The 2019 New Era Pinstripe Bowl will take place on Friday, December 27, at 3:20 p.m. (ET), featuring Michigan State University from the Big Ten Conference and Wake Forest University from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN and broadcast by ESPN Radio.
