While there were many Martin Luther King celebrations Freedom Youth and Miss Abbie’s Kids had their celebration at North Central Bronx Hospital in the seventeenth floor community room. This event was co-hosted by Ms. Monique Riley, and Ms. Shanequa Charles. There were over a dozen youth performers, and the goal of this Martin Luther King day event was to include the young school children who need to know about the struggles their grandparents had over fifty years ago.

The organizers gather around Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez.

Wile all the performers were excellent, to me one really stood out reminding me of a very similar child, (about the same age) who stood out at the office of Councilman Andy King’s Martin Luther King Day celebration in his district office.
