COUNCIL MEMBER FERNANDO CABRERA CALLS ON GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO TO RESIGN

Bronx, NY- Today New York City Council Member and Majority Whip Fernando Cabrera called on Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to resign.  “Over the past week we have seen increasing evidence that Governor Andrew Cuomo has failed to execute the duties of the highest office in the State of New York in an ethical manner.  Governor Cuomo’s inappropriate behavior with women staff members is totally inconsistent with the values we have espoused statewide, as well as with his own expression of support for gender equality and the #MeToo movement.  His actions paint a totally different picture- one that is condescending and inequitable- creating a hostile environment for female subordinates in his office.  In at least one case, the Governor’s Office failed to follow its own policies in response to a complaint of sexual harassment by Andrew Cuomo.  Governor Cuomo’s behavior is a clear and irrevocable failure of leadership, and has compromised New Yorkers’ trust in him to continue to lead the state.   I call on him to resign immediately.”

Council Member Cabrera is available for interviews.
