Concern Grows over White House Immigration Policy

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is deeply concerned about the extraordinary conditions President Biden’s policies have created on the U.S. southern border.

In a press conference carried live on KCBD, he explained that “The Biden Administration has created a crisis at our southern border through open border policies that give the green light to dangerous cartels and other criminal activity…Border security is the federal government’s responsibility, but the State of Texas will not allow the administration’s failures to endanger the lives of innocent Texans…”

Among Abbott’s concerns is the fact that at least 800 criminal aliens have been apprehended in Texas this year, including sex offenders and gang members, and many of those individuals had been deported before. In essence, Biden’s policies have been a green light to the powerful criminal cartels to both become more powerful south of the border while simultaneously expanding their operations within the United States.

Governor Abbott and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) have launched “Operation Lone Star” to combat the smuggling of people and drugs into Texas. The Operation integrates DPS with the Texas National Guard and deploys air, ground, marine, and tactical border security assets to high threat areas to deny Mexican Cartels and other smugglers the ability to move drugs and people into Texas.

Abbott is not the only Texan incensed at the Biden Administration’s immigration policy.  In a release, Senator Ted Cruz, himself the son of a Cuban immigrant, lashed out at the White House’s open door policy.

“President Biden’s plan is by leaps and bounds the most radical immigration plan any administration has ever proposed. This plan would allow every single person who was deported from the United States in the last four years to come back. It is a deeply unserious proposal… On his first day in office, Joe Biden issued a 100-day moratorium on most deportations, an order that was recently struck down in court. And earlier this month, senior U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials reportedly received interim instructions from the Biden administration that stated: ‘Agents will no longer seek to deport immigrants for crimes such as driving under the influence and assault…’ Bottom Line: It’s clear that today’s Democratic Party has been so radicalized that they are intent on prioritizing people here illegally ahead of the safety of Americans. President Biden’s policies are not the immigration reform Americans desperately need. Biden’s policies fail to enforce the law against even violent criminals and will threaten the livelihoods of American workers. “

The danger posed to Americans by Biden’s open border extends to contagious disease, as well. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform “On February 24, President Joe Biden rescinded an April 2020 executive order that temporarily suspended the distribution of employment-based green cards. Former President Donald Trump signed the April 2020 order as a reaction to the collapse of the American workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent shutdowns, which threw the economy into a tailspin. Biden’s order takes direct aim at President Trump’s response to the COVID-19 economic crisis.”

The Independent Women’s Forum notes: “Since they began administering COVID-19 tests on Jan. 25, [a] Brownsville [Texas] spokesperson said 108 migrants—or 6.3 percent of those who took the test—have tested positive for COVID-19. On top of the public health crisis, the U.S. is once again facing another border crisis. More than 6,000 migrants are flooding into the country each day. For context, Jeh Johnson, former President Barack Obama’s Department of Homeland Security secretary, said 1,000 daily apprehensions overwhelm the system. Despite these facts, the Biden administration is reducing border security, stopping deportations, and promising amnesty, which effectively encourages more illegal immigration and opens the door for more COVID-19 spread.”
