This is one of those very rare Mondays when Wave Hill is open to the public, and we hope you’ll take advantage. This Indigenous People’s Day weekend, fly over to the gardens for Wings Over Wave Hill! Join us for a live, ever-popular falconry demonstration and a fall birding walk. Summon the magic of autumn on a weekly Gardens Highlights Walk or a Gallery Tour. And if you’re looking for activities with your kids this weekend, the Family Art Project is celebrating the holiday with a project that uses art to honor the history of the ancestral lands of the Iroquois-speaking people. For Indigenous People’s Day, learn the local story of how the local ancestral lands of the Iroquois-speaking people came to grow from a turtle’s back. Exhibitions at Glyndor Gallery explore the dynamic relationship between nature, culture and site. Public gallery tours of the exhibitions are led by Gallery Greeters on Thursdays and Saturdays. Visitors can expect an in-depth look at artworks on view in Glyndor Gallery and in the Sunroom Project Space, showcasing the work of both emerging and established artists in a unique environment.

Fall is peak migration time along the Hudson River and we have a front row seat! Join naturalists and avid birders Paul Keim and Gabriel Willow as you explore Wave Hill’s gardens, woodlands and the skies overhead to look for resident and migrating birds. Birders of all levels welcome. Please bring your own binoculars! Ages 10 and older welcome with an adult.

Join a knowledgeable Wave Hill Garden Guide on a tour of favorite garden areas and fall highlights. Severe weather cancels. This walk ends at 2:45PM. Garden Highlight Walks are most appropriate for adults or young adults. Not intended for groups; maximum five people allowed to register together. Registration required, onsite on the day of the walk at the Perkins Visitor Center.
