STATEMENT FROM BRONX DISTRICT ATTORNEY DARCEL D. CLARK ON THE PASSING OF GEN. COLIN POWELL

“Today we lost an extraordinary American to COVID-19, a person who dedicated his life to the national security of this great country. Colin Powell was a son of the South Bronx, who studied at Morris High School, attended a CUNY college, joined the U.S. Army and went on to become the first Black U.S. National Security Adviser, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Secretary of State. Even after achieving so much, Gen. Powell never forgot his roots, and because of that he holds a special place in our hearts. His service to his country and unwavering leadership, especially during America’s darkest moments, will be forever remembered. His story and successes have inspired and guided many and will continue to do so for many generations to come. I send my condolences to his wife and children during this difficult time, may he Rest In Peace.”
