On the north east corner of Fordham Rd and Webster Avenue stands a nine foot wooden art installation by Japanese artist Akihiro Ito.

Today I had the unexpected pleasure of watching him put the final touches to his piece entitled “Tomorrow”. When I asked when it was, he replied “a baby”.

Ito works with natural materials to draw the connection between humans and nature.

“Tomorrow” was previously installed from Sept, 2012 – Aug, 2013 at Fort Greene Park. Prior works “Forever” in Riverside Park South and “The Mask” in Van Cortlandt Park were featured from June, 2011 – July, 2012.

The installation is set for an official unveiling  this Wednesday, April 16th at 3:30 pm. Following the unveiling the Fordham Road BID will he hosting a networking event at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar (on Third Ave at Fordham Plaza)

To RSVP email edembkowski@fordhamroadbid.org or call the BID office at (718) 562-2104.
