Stonewall Democrats Side with Council Candidate Randy Abreu

Candidate for City Council Adds Another Endorsement to Build on Campaign’s Momentum, Stonewall Democrats Side with Randy Abreu

Bronx, N.Y.  –  Today Randy Abreu received the endorsement from one of the City’s leading LGBT Organizations, the Stonewall Democrats in the race for City Council District 14. This comes on the heels of endorsements from labor and organizations in the Bronx and Citywide.

“The Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City (SDNYC) is proud to endorse Randy

Abreu. He’s the fighter we need in the City Council,” said SDNYC President Rose Christ. “In today’s challenging political environment, it is critical that we elect candidates who will represent all of their constituencies, without discrimination or prejudice. We know Randy will be an advocate for every resident of Council District 14 and we look forward to partnering with him in the coming weeks to win the election.”

“I am humbled to have received the endorsement from Stonewall Democrats, and pledge to continue to fight and advance equality for the LGBT community,” said Randy Abreu. “We have made a lot of progress, but there is still so much work to do. We must work to protect and advance the rights of all people, and in this election, the stakes could not be higher.”

The Stonewall Democratic Club of NYC was founded in 1986, as the first and only citywide LGBT Democratic organization in New York City. It was founded to fight for all LGBT rights, and to create a strong voice within the Democratic Party that would represent the interests and concerns of the LGBT community. They have played a major role in influencing elections, legislation, and policy throughout the state.

This marks the fifth endorsement of Randy Abreu’s City Council campaign in the 14th District. The endorsement from Stonewall Democrats follows endorsements from the Working Families Party, SEIU 1199, Planned Parenthood and United Auto Workers Region 9A.
