P.S. 72 Gets a BOOST from Senator Klein

Senator Jeff Klein is investing in life lessons for the students of P.S. 72 William Dorney School in The Bronx with the recent announcement of $16,500 in state funding he secured that will go towards a new, innovative program.

The program, named the Young Ladies and Gentleman Club, first began a year ago and is getting a much-need infusion of cash through Project BOOST (Building Options and Opportunities for Students). Senator Klein made the announcement at P.S. 72’s recent PTA meeting and Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner.

Participants learn life skills on a range of areas from etiquette and manners to conversation starters. They even frequent restaurants to gain first-hand experience with fine dining and proper table setting practices.

A diverse group of students were chosen for the program based on need and include introverted individuals and others with behavioral issues. As the program progresses, participants grow and foster lifelong friendships with their peers. To further promote unity and friendship, each member receives a special Young Ladies and Gentleman Club cardigan with a unique logo designed by the students themselves.

Other fun activities for the young ladies and gentlemen in training include a trip to Westchester Broadway Dinner Theater as well as a special Spirit Cruise touring the Statue of Liberty.
