Bronx Centennial Inauguration celebrates our past, present & future

On January 9, 2014, the Bronx Borough President’s office held the Centennial Inauguration at the Bronx County Court house.  Hundreds of people gathered for the festivities, including elected officials, business and community leaders and zealous citizens.

Chairman of the Bronx Centennial, former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer, warmly welcomed the crowd.  Inspiring words were shared by longtime Bronx historian Lloyd Ultan, newly elected Speaker of the New York City Council (and the first Latina to be appointed) Melissa Mark-Viverito and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.

A special guest appearance was made by new elected Mayor de Blasio who commended the Bronx for its progress and assured his support for our borough.

The coming year will be filled with monthly events commemorating the Bronx’s 100 years as a county.   Count on The Bronx Chronicle to bring you updates on all of the upcoming events.
