Councilman Ritchie Torres was appointed Deputy Leader and Chairman of the Committee on Public Housing

Today  Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito today announced that Councilman Ritchie Torres was appointed Deputy Leader and Chairman of the Committee on Public Housing. Mr. Torres is well acquainted with NYC Public Housing. Have lived there as a child Mr Torres has a deep and personal understanding of the good, the bad, and the very bad that lurks within the corridors of NYCHA .

He is in a unique position to ensure that repairs are made, safety is provide, and that the practice of warehousing apartment is brought to a quick and timely end.

Councilman Torres is known for his caring and empathy. He truly cares about the people that he serves. There is little doubt that he will also care for all the people that NYCHA serves.

For the first time in a long time I can honestly say that the people who live in NYCHA buildings are in good hands.
