The State of the Borough Address, live from Hostos, began at 12:25, but here we’re the introductions before the Ruben Diaz Jr.’s address. Thanks to BronxNet, who is streaming the event live on the internet, as well as public access television, who has the best seat in the house.
Manifest ring in the ceremonies with a set of gospel songs.
The Deputy BP, Aurelia Greene, conducted the Ceremonies.
Rabbi Sarah (first female Orthodox Jewish rabbi!) gives the religious invocation.
External Relations Director Dirk McCall, who started at the Borough President’s office last month, introduces the elected officials and dignitaries in the audience from the Bronx and around the city.
President of Hostos Community College Félix V. Matos Rodríguez welcomes the crowd and speaks about education and inequality, and mentions how Hostos has been the only CUNY campus not to receive a new building in fifteen years.
…..And the BP, Ruben Diaz, takes the stage at 12:25 p.m., for his fifth State of the Borough address. More on the speech later. (We’re watching it….shh!!! You should be too!)
