President Outlines New Russian Sanctions in Press Conference This Morning

President Barack Obama gave an an abrupt press conference this morning, taking no questions, speaking of the nation’s present plans regarding dealing with the Russian invasion of Ukranian Crimea.

He stated the US would be imposing sanctions on specific individuals who have undermined the sovereignty of Ukraine, as established in an executive order two weeks ago.  Explaining that a new executive order would expand sanctions, specific officials in the arms sector and supporters of government officials will be targeted. The president spoke of partnering with Europe, and said that Vice President Joe Biden will be heading to Europe tonight for diplomatic talks with nations such as Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.  Finally, President Obama stated he wanted to “make clear to Russia” that further provocations will not be tolerated by the international community.
