Bronx Bash: Jolly Tinker Celebrates 45 Years

On Saturday, July 12th at 4 p.m., Bronx watering hole The Jolly Tinker on Webster Avenue and Bedford Park, will share their 45th anniversary celebratory year with their Bronx Jolly Tinker Barcommunity as they host a local community event to support and show appreciation for the borough. Notable Bronx organizations such as NY Botanical Garden, P.O.T.S., The Great and Grand and Glorious Army of the Bronx, and the Bronx Zoo, will all come together to take part in this neighborhood event. Local Bronx celebrities, media and government officials will be present to meet and greet while commemorating the occasion.

The Bronx Bash will feature local Bronx favorite, “The Chipper Truck” who will be serving on site throughout the event. There will be fun music, games, a silent auction, and a free gin tasting by the newly launched local Gin, Queens Courage. The Jolly Tinker will present a chronological slideshow of the community they have fostered over 45 years. A portion of the proceeds from the event’s beverage sales will be donated to the local Bronx soup kitchen, P.O.T.S. Friends are encouraged to bring a canned good and receive a complimentary beer on the house.

“We have been fortunate to be in business for 45 years, and we want to celebrate that success with our community. This is a celebration for all of us,” says Michael Prendergast, Jr. (Second generation owner of the Jolly Tinker).

The Jolly Tinker has been continuously operating since 1969, making it the oldest family owned bar in the Bronx. Since opening day, the Jolly Tinker has never closed its doors, except for a few hours while the bar caught on fire in 1985.

Neighbors, community representatives, friends, loyal customers and first-timers are encouraged to come out and celebrate this milestone year at 4:00pm Saturday July 12th at the Jolly Tinker (2875 Webster Avenue, Bronx NY 10458).
