Wave Hill Events Aug 7–Aug 14

WED, AUGUST 5    POP-UP STORE IN THE SHOP: TEXTILE ARTIST EDWIN SERRANO
The Shop at Wave Hill will feature a pop-up store with textile and fabric designer Edwin Serrano this last Sunset Wednesday of the summer. Serrano has collected textiles from all over the world, sometimes incorporating them in his work by re-purposing, dying and sewing them by hand into his own unique fiber art and mixed-media works. “I’m inspired by the meditative process of re-creation, taking time to mend something that has aged or been torn, acknowledging its natural patina and wear and in the process creating a personal narrative with it,” says the artist, a recent transplant from Brooklyn to the Bronx. Meet the artist and enjoy this opportunity to make your own selection from his hand-dyed and hand-sewn works in indigo. PERKINS VISITOR CENTER, 4:30–7:30PM
