YMCA Staff Shares in the Gift-giving Holiday Spirit.

(Bronx, NY – 1/8/2016) The holidays are a joyous time for many, but also a difficult time for those who are ill or in need.  With this in mind NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx would like to thank the many generous people who donated gifts to our patients.

Through the efforts of numerous organizations and in cooperation with the Jacobi Medical Center Auxiliary and the Friends of North Central Bronx Hospital Inc., more than 300 gifts were collected from approximately 15 groups, including:

  • Astor Little League
  • Astor Toy Drive
  • Bronx Green Middle School
  • D4K Live
  • FDNY- Engine 97
  • Fed Ex
  • Friendly Baptist Church
  • Harvest Field Community Church
  • Public School 178 (Bronx)
  • Public School 72 (Bronx)
  • NY Life Health Insurance with YMCA and Petland Discounts.
  • Ray Negron of the New York Yankees
  • Lucy’s Church
  • Wild Aces Motorcyle Group in Harlem

The toys were distributed during the week of Christmas to children at both facilities in both the inpatient and outpatient units.

“The strength of our institutions relies on the strength of our communities,” said Interim Chief Executive Officers Chris Fugazy and Gregory Calliste.  “This holiday season, our neighbors and partners in the community really stepped up to help those in need.  We greatly appreciate their support.”

Those seeking to donate toys for next year or those looking to make donations year round can call the Jacobi Auxiliary at (718) 918-4203 and the Friends of North Central Bronx Hospital at (718) 519 -4742.
