BRONX NY, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11am– ROTARY CLUB of the BRONX CREATES BEATRICE CASTIGLIA CATULLO AWARD
On Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 12noon at the Sammy’s Shrimp Box in City Island and in conclusion of the Celebration of Women’s History Month, the Rotary Club of the Bronx has created Beatrice Castiglia-Catullo Award. The Award became a necessity by the organization to jumpstart the celebration of Rotarian Catullo 100th year birthday anniversary.
Beatrice Castiglia-Catullo (Bea for short) is the founder of R.A.I.N. which has its numerous programs of community services to homebound and elderly care spread across The Bronx and Upper Manhattan. She was a nurse by training, an entrepreneur by profession, a humanitarian by choice, and a benefactor by grace. In the book published in 2012, the author Nan Clark wrote that the story of the life of Beatrice Castiglia-Catullo (Bea) is the material of great literature. Through her never-ending good deeds, Bea has touched the lives of countless people.
According to the president of the Rotary Club of the Bronx, Rotarian LaCrown Adeyemi TOBA who presented this resolution to the Board of the Club stated that Bea has been recognized by numerous organizations all across New York State. However, Rotary Club would be the first organization to name an award in her honor rather than just recognizing her with a plaque. This Award will be forever in the Rotary Club. Bea is the first woman ever inducted to the Rotary Club of the Bronx in 1987 after being branded as Men’s Club since it was founded in 1918. Rotarian Bea maintained perfect attendance for 20consecutive years after her induction. By November 2016, Bea will vibrantly celebrate her 100years of existence. Thus, Rotary Club is jumpstarting this event as we round up the Women History Month.
The Guest Speaker at the fellowship meeting will be Reverend Que English, another upcoming woman named as one of the top 25 women in the Bronx in 2015. Come and be part of history.
