The Bronx Council on the Arts and Bronx County Historical Society are excited to present Poetry Macabre a new poetry reading and workshop series at Poe Park. Featured poets will read from Poe’s porch on Saturday, October 29 from 12-1 pm, followed by local dignitary announcements. Workshops start at 1:30 pm in the adjacent Poe Park Visitor Center, steps away from the historic landmark. Tours of The Cottage will be available and both programs are free.

From Poe’s Porch was designed to create greater awareness of local history, by drawing parallels to current issues being written about by Bronx poets such as LGBTQ equality, immigration, gentrification, racism and others. Local poets Skye Cabrera, Carlos Manuel Rivera and Jani Rose will kick this series off.
The Edgar Allan Poe Cottage and Poe Park Visitor Center are located at Poe Park, 2640 Grand Concourse (East Kingsbridge Road). For directions or more information on this event, please call The Society at (718) 881-8900 or email at education@bronxhistoricalsociety.org.

Admission is free, but RSVP is required.
