Movie Director & Author of “Bronx Kill” Philip Cioffari Murder Mystery Reading – April 19th

Wednesday, April 19th. at 7:30 pm. The East Bronx History Forum will hold its 120th free and open meeting with three Bronx authors. Last year the Forum held the Bronx movie premiere of “Love in the Age of Dion” by Director and Author Philip Cioffari. At the forum’s next meeting, Mr. Cioffari will read sections from “Bronx Kill”, his new book where an obsessed NYPD detective seeks revenge upon three men for his brother’s drowning death. Mr. Cioffari starting writing during his years at St. Helena grade school and Mt. St. Michael High School. He graduated from St. John’s University and is an English professor at William Paterson University in New Jersey. His experiences inspired novels, “Catholic Boys”, “Jesusville”, “Dark Road, Dead End” and his story collection, “A History of Things Lost or Broken”. After reading “Catholic Boys”, with its numerous Bronx locations painting a clear picture of the scenes that the former detective traveled, made me greatly anticipating Mr. Cioffari’s recent novel, “The Bronx Kill”. The title is clever because it points to both an apparent murder mystery in the Bronx and a specific waterway, Bronx Kill that separates the Bronx from Randall’s Island. Readers will clearly be treated to familiar locations and some possible characters we have all encountered growing up in the Bronx.

The Bronx connection continues with poetry selections from Gil Fagiani, a local essayist and short story writer”
