60th Annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade Kicks Off at 11AM Sunday

The 60th Annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade will take place on New York City’s Fifth Avenue, Sunday, June 11, starting at 11am.
The parade has been marred  by uproar over the controversial selection of ex-FALN leader Oscar Lopez Rivera for the inaugural “National Freedom Hero” award. Several sponsors, including Goya Foods and JetBlue, pulled out of the event. Statewide elected officials, including Governor Andrew Cuomo and US Senator Chuck Schumer, have declined to participate in today’s parade as march participants.
