Maria makes landfall on Dominica as a Category 5 hurricane, heads toward St. Croix and Puerto Rico

The National Hurricane Center reported that Hurricane Maria, the first Category 5 hurricane to strike Dominica in recorded history, has made landfall with estimated winds of 160 miles per hour. While fluctuations in intensity are possible over the next 36 hours, the storm could strike St. Croix and Puerto Rico at Category 5 strength Tuesday night into Wednesday.
