NYC Department of Sanitation Team Deployed to Puerto Rico

On October 6th, the New York City Department of Sanitation sent 31 workers to Puerto Rico. The 30 uniformed workers and one civilian employee will help the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Agency (PREMA) in coordinating a debris management support team to assist in debris clearance and disposal operations. The team expects to be in Puerto Rico for two weeks.

“New York City is no stranger to natural disasters, and we are proud to be able to use our past experiences to help the people of Puerto Rico,” said Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia. “These employees are great representatives of our City, and I know they are looking forward getting to Puerto Rico to start this important work. We wish them all the best over the next two weeks.”
