Josie Robertson Plaza

NEW YORK, NY — This spring, 41 school and regional youth ensembles will travel to Lincoln Center to perform on its iconic campus as part of the organization’s Young Music Makers program. From March 26 to May 25, two thousand young musicians from around the world will activate Lincoln Center’s outdoor plazas with free pop-up concerts.

This year’s Young Music Makers draws orchestras, bands, and choirs both locally, with representatives from the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan, and globally, with ensembles from 18 states; Alberta, Canada; and New South Wales, Australia. Some ensembles are regular participants in the program: CT Future Musicians of Portland, Connecticut, is celebrating its 18th performance on the Lincoln Center campus on Monday, April 30, at noon, and Cliffside Park Middle School of New Jersey will make its eighth appearance in a row on Wednesday, May 23, at 11:00 am. Meanwhile, half of the participating ensembles will be making their Lincoln Center debuts.

Now in its second decade, Young Music Makers provides students with the inspirational experience of performing on Lincoln Center’s campus. This free, unadjudicated program allows ensembles of all abilities and levels to participate, while animating the campus for visitors with pop-up musical concerts.
