Ramadan is Near and Iftar is Almost Here! Elected Officials Share Greetings

Sen. Leroy Comrie (District 14/Queens) wished his friends, neighbors, and fellow New Yorkers who will begin celebrating Ramadan Tuesday night peace and blessing as they enter this holy, month-long holiday of fasting and prayer. “Ramadan is a special time during which our Muslim brothers and sisters recommit themselves to devotion to Allah, as well as personal reflection and renewal. Ramadan Mubarak!”

“As another new moon ushers in the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, I wish my Muslim friends and neighbors a peaceful, joyous, and reflective month.

“For many of you, this month of fasting is a deeply spiritual time, filled with personal renewal, forgiveness, patience, unity, and compassion for others.

“New York City is proud to be home to diverse communities of faith that inspire positivity, strength, and hope in each of us. It is during these celebrations that we are often reminded that there is more that unites us than divides us.

“May this Ramadan inspire positivity and growth within yourself, your families, and your communities. Ramadan Kareem.”
