Free Spring Sports + Summer Education programs from City Parks Foundation

FREE SENIORS FITNESS INSTRUCTION IN ALL 5 BOROUGHS

Get active in your neighborhood park with CityParks Seniors Fitness! We welcome New Yorkers 60+ to participate in free tennis lessons, yoga and fitness walking in 16 neighborhood parks across the city. Most activities take place twice a week unless otherwise noted and all equipment is provided. A complete list of locations can be viewed here.

SPRING TRACK & FIELD PROGRAMS FOR KIDS

Online registration in now available for our free Spring Track & Field programs in Thomas Jefferson Park (Manhattan), and Kaiser and Linden Parks (Brooklyn)

Our programs enable kids to learn the fundamentals of the sport and stay active this Spring. Participants of all levels are welcome!

GREEN GIRLS SUMMER INSTITUTE

Green Girls Summer Institute is a Science program that engages up to 40 middle school girls, ages 10-13, in five weeks of fun-filled outdoor adventures.

Based in Long Island City, Green Girls travel to all five boroughs to study New York’s dynamic urban forests, parks and waterways, encouraging them to realize their potential to create change within their natural environment and learn about future careers in the sciences. Whether bird-watching, canoeing or conducting science projects, Green Girls develop a new understanding of natural ecosystems in our city.

At this free workshop, learn how your group can use different social media platforms to effectively raise awareness, relay information, and attract volunteers. Get updated with the latest online strategies from our expert speakers, and hear best practices from community group leaders that use social media for success.

At this interactive workshop you will:

  • Practice crafting an engaging post on each platform

COASTAL CLASSROOM SUMMER INSTITUTE

Coastal Classroom is a five-week program that invites middle school kids to become actively involved in our marine ecosystem through hands-on learning in parks along the New York City waterfront. Science-based activities are coupled with recreational opportunities including rowing and fishing and special field trips, all of which help students experience our waterways in new ways and learn how to protect them.
